Verified model comparison
Compare cars side by side, using official data instead of sales copy
Pick any two verified model families. The comparison page will line up the latest generation, horsepower, EPA fuel economy, safety ratings, recalls and dimensions, then explain what those differences mean to a real buyer.
How to compare cars for your everyday needs
Compare two cars side by side to narrow your shortlist by power, fuel economy, dimensions and available safety information. Choose a model in each selector above, then open the comparison to review the latest generation listed for each model. Follow the specification links to check the engines and trims behind the figures.
Compare the trims you would actually buy
A model family can include several engines and drivetrains. Its highest horsepower and best MPG may come from different trims, so the summary does not describe a single car with every advantage. Check the model year, engine, transmission and drivetrain before deciding which configuration suits you.
Put fuel economy and size in context
Compare fuel consumption using the same test standard and units; EPA, WLTP and NEDC figures are not interchangeable. Use the fuel-cost calculator with your annual mileage, local fuel price and a suitable MPG figure to estimate running costs. Check length and width against your parking space, and confirm passenger and luggage room separately: exterior dimensions do not measure usable interior space.
Check safety information for the exact vehicle
Where safety ratings are available, check the tested model year and configuration. A missing rating does not establish that a car is unsafe, and a recall count alone does not measure crash protection. Before buying, confirm recall applicability and repair status for the exact VIN through the official NHTSA recall lookup or the manufacturer.
Use the comparison to identify the trade-offs that matter to you, then review the individual specification pages and test-drive your shortlisted trims. Our used-car VIN and specification checklist can help you check a seller's listing against the vehicle before a purchase.

Comparison questions
How is this different from a dealer comparison page?
Dealer pages often argue for one brand and compare only current trims. Car Data Index compares verified model families using official EPA and NHTSA data plus generation-level specs, so the page remains useful after a sales event or incentive expires.
Does this compare every model year?
The page compares the latest verified generation of each model, then links you into each generation sheet for year-specific engine, safety and fuel-economy detail.
What if one model has no official safety or EPA data?
We show only the fields that exist. Missing safety or EPA evidence is left blank rather than guessed. That avoids fake certainty and keeps the comparison auditable.
